Macrobiotics, A Re-definition

Posted on by Denny Waxman

Macrobiotics is not a diet. Macrobiotics is an orderly approach to diet and lifestyle. Through principles of harmony, balance and change we continually learn how to make healthier choices in our eating habits, diet, activity and lifestyle.

Macrobiotics is also based on the understanding that spiritual health, the development of endless appreciation for all of life, leads to mental, emotional and physical health. The healthy choices we each make on a daily basis also benefit society and the environment.

High-Energy Foods and Circulation

Posted on by Denny Waxman

Many foods in the modern diet have too much energy. They create an overactive condition inside. Chicken, tuna, eggs, cheese, chocolate and carbonated soft drinks are all very high-energy foods that are unbalancing people’s nutrition. If you recreate some of these high-energy foods into so-called healthy foods such as tofu cheesecake, you might change the quality slightly but not make them a lot better. Energy is energy. These foods combined with either over or under circulation affect our body’s ability to be nourished. Under circulation is evidenced by cold hands or feet or always being cold. Over circulation is seen when people are out in their t-shirts and shorts when it is still chilly and they think it feels great. Anything that is overactive for too long becomes exhausted. The process of aging is accelerated by our modern diet and lifestyle. Too many high-energy foods, including sugars, spices and chocolate, combined with cold foods, are the factors that interfere with our proper nourishment and our proper circulation.

When we practice the seven steps of Strengthening Health Macrobiotics, we naturally make more moderate choices for ourselves. In this way we keep our circulation more open and improve our ability to receive nourishment. We can improve conditions ranging from high blood pressure to obesity to cancer in this way. As our own health improves, so does our ability to help the world to have good circulation and health.

Health and Medicine

Posted on by Denny Waxman

We are approaching a crossroads in modern life. Science, medicine and technology are advancing rapidly. Despite claims in the media that we are leading a better way of life, it is easy to see that this is not true in many ways. I think that it is hard for most of us to say that life is happier, easier or safer than in the past. We read statistics that say we are living longer, yet we probably all know young people who have cancer and other life threatening diseases. We also know young people who have died unexpectedly in or before the prime of life.

It is becoming clear that we will have to decide on which direction to take to guide us towards a better and healthier life. Modern medicine complemented with alternatives is one choice, the other a broad, embracing way of life, which enables us to choose from a broad range of healing modalities. People are more aware of their health than ever before. The popularity of alternative medicine is rapidly increasing each year.

These two streams that are emerging are not always complementary. Will we be satisfied by modern medicine that is supplemented with alternative healing? Will this approach lead us towards better and lasting health? I think we can safely say no to both questions.

Macrobiotics is like an umbrella. It covers everything. Diet and lifestyle are part of life. Macrobiotics is about health, not sickness. Modern medicine is about sickness, not health. It is for special cases and emergencies and therefore should not be our major focus.

The seven steps of strengthening health macrobiotics are a gateway to lasting health. By sitting down to eat, chewing our food well, having grains and a separate vegetable dish as the basis of a meal, we can move towards a better and healthier life for ourselves and for the world. We can improve heart disease, obesity and many other diseases. In this way we can fulfill our promise on this planet. Please begin today!

Smokescreens

Posted on by Denny Waxman

These days we are advised to reduce stress and uncover the childhood traumas that interfere with our present happiness. The mind-body relationship and the effect of emotions on our health are now scientific fact. Although there have been many positive changes and discoveries, I wonder if all this new awareness has given us more happiness, freedom or control of our lives.

We have developed a tendency to look outside of ourselves rather than inside for the answers. It is easy to follow new trends as they come along and wait for the okay from science or medicine before we change.

It seems to me that we are only creating smokescreens that mask the real issues. It is always easier to try to change or blame someone else rather than ourselves. Yet we limit our own natural ability by doing this.

Real change comes from inside. As we change ourselves the world around us changes. We already have the necessary tools to create these changes. The proper use of diet, activity and lifestyle will strengthen our ability to direct our lives in a positive direction.
Strengthening Health Macrobiotics provides the seven steps to help us do this. When we practice the seven steps, we improve health conditions ranging from the more minor, such as psoriasis, to the more serious, such as cancer, heart disease and everything in between.

It is time to take our places as real people on this planet, penetrate the smokescreens and create a new view for us all.
